Summer is right around the corner and while most of us are hoping it’s far less eventful than last summer, our work continues!
Here are some quick tips to keep in mind as you plan out your communications this summer.
- Highlight the maintenance and facility crews in your district. This is a great way to show work in-action of how your district is properly maintaining your buildings and spaces. It can also have a dual purpose to highlight any facility needs such as deteriorating or aging buildings or overcrowding that are likely to come up in the near future.
- Send out a postcard to stay in touch. If you don’t already have a regular mail cycle to reach every household in your district, now is a great time to start! Postcards can be a cost-effective and time-sensitive way to get a quick message to your community. Consider adding a picture of a graduate and a message of gratitude to the community for supporting your students through another great year.
- It’s ok to slow down but don’t stop your communications. Many districts have continued weekly or biweekly e-newsletters this year to keep in regular contact with families and the community amidst the constant changes this year. You might be tempted to pull way back but don’t lose your rhythm completely this summer! Consider how often you’d like to communicate in the fall and make your shift this summer and stay consistent.
